MONUMENT • As the weeks of summer start to become few and far between, another one of Monument’s annual events looks to make its mark on the later summer schedule of family fun.

Monu-Palooza 8.0, in its eighth year of celebrating the community with music and food, is set to happen Sept. 1 at Limbach Park in Monument.

Billed as Monument’s hometown music festival, a lineup of six bands will kick off at 12:30 p.m. in what has become a must-attend event for Tri-Lakes area residents on the eve of Labor Day. Gates for the event open at 11 a.m. Advance all-day admission tickets are available for $15 and $25 the day of the event. Tickets are now available at www.MonuPalooza2024.eventbrite.com.

“The idea is for people to be able to enjoy their morning,” event co-organizer Marissa Searle said. “Have breakfast, go to church or whatever they usually do on Sundays, then head to the park at lunchtime, grab some grub from one of our trucks and hang with us until dark. And have a lot of fun, most importantly.”

The 8.0 edition of Monu-Palooza kicks off with a trifecta of well-known musical acts from the region including Mojo Filter, Skin & Bones and The Matt Bloom Band. The country songs of Colorado Springs’ Sandy Wells follows. At 5 p.m. there will be a break for a wedding and at 5:30 p.m., the Ashtonz will take the stage, followed by the award-winning WireWood Station at 6:50 p.m. as the day’s headliner.

“We try to be good neighbors to the Hearth House wedding venue across the street, especially since they’re one of our sponsors,” Charlie Searle, event founder, said. “Maybe we’ll get the bride and groom to come over for a dance.”

Marissa Searle said the organizers are thrilled to have made Monu-Palooza a Tri-Lakes tradition, featuring the best local bands including some which have participated almost every year of the event since 2017.

“It’s definitely a community event, and something that everybody can be proud to be a part of,” she said.

Providing food for the event will be a series of mobile kitchens at the park. Gates for the event open at 11 a.m. and it is sponsored by Timberview Animal Hospital, Voda Cleaning and Restoration, The Law Office of Kevin R. Hancock, Palmer Lake Pub, Lavender and Thyme Aesthetics, Hearth House Weddings and Events, My Door Company, Tri-Lakes Legal and Phil Long Ford of Motor City.
