Colorado Springs police K-9 helps track down home invasion suspect
A Colorado Springs police dog was instrumental in tracking and apprehending an alleged home invader on Saturday, law enforcement officials said.
Xavier Smith, 33, faces several charges including first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery and felony menacing, police said.
Officers arrived at a residence in the 1200 block of Flycatcher Lane after receiving a call that a man wearing a ski mask entered the home and demanded money. The suspect drove away before police arrived.
Aided by a K-9 officer, police found Smith a few miles away from the home and arrested him, officials said.
