Colorado Springs police on Sunday arrested a man suspected of stalking and threatening his estranged girlfriend before setting her garage on fire, according to law enforcement officials.

Joshua Spradling, 33, faces charges of arson, stalking and menacing, police said.

At about 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, a woman called police and said her estranged boyfriend had been circling her home all night after she made him leave. As the man drove around the block, he allegedly texted photos of a pistol and threatened to shoot the woman.

As officers were en route to the residence, in the 500 block of Huron Road in east Colorado Springs, the woman called again, saying the man had set her detached garage on fire before leaving the area. An officer was able put the flames out before they caused much damage.

Police found Spradling at a nearby strip mall and arrested him without incident. His car was impounded “for the purpose of executing a search warrant at a later time,” police said.
