Gunfire exchange between vehicles near street race gathering leaves 1 wounded in Colorado Springs
One person was wounded following a gunfire exchange between several vehicles in southeast Colorado Springs on Saturday, according to the police department.
The incident occurred at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday in the 3100 block of South Academy Boulevard, near Hancock Expressway, officials said. During an apparent gathering of street racers, a vehicle pulled into the parking lot and at least one occupant opened fire.
Witnesses told police that people began firing at each other from several vehicles. One person was hit in the leg as he was trying to run away. He was taken “by private auto” to a nearby hospital. The victim’s condition was not released.
No other injuries were reported, and no arrests were announced.
