The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation just northeast of Colorado Springs. 

Law enforcement said that they received a call at 3 a.m. Thursday for what they said was a “welfare check” at a residence near Hallelujah Trail, north of Falcon. 

Following the discovery of a deceased person, a suspicious death investigation is now underway. PIO Kurt Smith told the Gazette they are investigating the incident as “suspicious” due to how much is unknown at this time. 

Smith said the department will know more only once the autopsy report comes back. No other information was available as of Thursday afternoon.
