Colorado Springs weekend shooting victim identified

A man who was shot and killed in the east side of Colorado Springs over the weekend has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office, according to a news release Tuesday.
David Charles Compare, 52, died in the Saturday shooting in the 700 block of East Hills Road near East Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive, police said in the release.

Compare’s death is being investigated as a homicide. No arrests have been announced.
The shooting death is the 23rd reported homicide in Colorado Springs this year, according to police. There were 16 at this time in 2023. A 24th homicide was reported Sunday.
