5 vehicles set ablaze in suspected arson in Colorado Springs Monday night
A scene of arson is under investigation in Colorado Springs Monday evening after firefighters battled a blaze of five vehicles they believe were intentionally set on fire.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, at 8:43 p.m., Monday, officials received multiple reports of a vehicle fire near the 2600 block of West Vermijo Avenue.
Multiple callers reported at least five vehicles were on fire and were threatening multiple structures, officials said.
Crews with the Colorado Springs Fire Department arrived moments later and contained the blaze.
CSPD spokesperson Caitlin Ford said the fire impacted three vans and two trailers.
According to the department, fire crews determined the evidence on the scene indicated the fires had been intentionally set. The CSFD Arson investigators alongside CSPD’s Regional Explosives Unit have assumed the lead in the investigation.
