A motorcyclist was killed while attempting stunts in a parking lot in north Colorado Springs on Saturday, according to law enforcement officials.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has conducted an autopsy on the deceased motorcyclist and identified him as 31-year-old Charles Velasquez.

The single-vehicle crash took place just before 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Floor and Décor, located at 6867 Crest Hill View, near Woodmen Road and Interstate 25, police said. Emergency responders found Velasquez dead at the scene.

An investigation determined that Velasquez lost control while trying to do a stunt, rode over a curb, hit a concrete retaining wall and went through a wooden fence before ending up in a residential backyard.

According to law enforcement, this incident makes 32 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs this year. At this same time last year, there were 27 traffic fatalities across the city.
