1 dead, several hospitalized following multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near Larkspur
One motorist is dead and six others were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near Larkspur, according to a news release from Colorado State Patrol.
Law enforcement was informed of the crash at about 12:20 p.m. Sunday, the State Patrol said. When responders arrived at the scene, near milepost 171 on the northbound side of the interstate, they found that six vehicles were involved in the crash. Seven occupants were taken to area hospitals, one of whom was pronounced dead after leaving the scene.
The deceased motorist was a man, officials said. His name was withheld pending official identification by the Douglas County Coroner’s Office.
Northbound traffic was being redirected from I-25 at Exit 167.
“This will be an extended closure with no known timeframe for reopening,” the release stated.
Investigators were still working to determine the cause of the crash as of Sunday afternoon.
