Great horned owl found tangled in string, hanging upside down in Colorado Springs tree gets happy ending

Colorado Parks and Wildlife had a “hoot” Tuesday rescuing a owl out of a tree in Colorado Springs.

With the assistance of three featherless friends, a great horned owl made it back down to safety. The owl was tangled in string and hanging upside down from a tree.

Officers Travis Sauder and Deme McDowell were unable to reach the critter at first. However, the pair noticed Chase Hubert with Front Range Arborists trimming trees in the area.

After a quick call for help, Hubert was able to climb the tree and cut the owl loose. After being carefully transported down to safety, it was taken to the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center’s raptor center in Pueblo for rehab.

The center could not be reached for comment Friday afternoon on the status of the bird’s recovery.
