Supporters of former President Donald Trump, who officially accepted the Republican nomination during last week’s national convention, said that while they thought Biden’s withdrawal was overdue, it is unlikely to make a difference in November.
“(Biden) should have dropped out months ago,” said Melanie Farmer, who added that she intends to vote for Trump regardless of who the Democratic nominee is.

“It doesn’t matter who (the Democrats) pick,” said Robert Hughes, who said he is registered as an independent. “Trump will beat anyone who runs.”
“(Vice President Kamala) Harris can’t win, and Biden knows it,” said Daniel Simmons, an Army veteran. “That’s why he held out for so long.”
When asked who should run on the Democratic ticket in Biden’s place, most respondents said Harris. But a familiar name came up more than once.
“If the Democrats were smart, they would get Hillary Clinton to run,” said Steve Crawford, who said he does not intend to vote. “She’s not young (76), but she’s younger than Biden. And she got more votes than Trump in 2016.”
