Damage to gas line prompts partial road closure near Colorado Springs
Bradley Road remains partially closed Wednesday afternoon due to a damaged gas line east of Security-Widefield near Colorado Springs, according to an announcement from the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Fire officials said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning that Engine 2, Battalion 2 and Special Ops 52 were on the scene of a damaged gas main along Bradley Road after a construction company reportedly hit a line as they were excavating on the scene.
A complete closure of Bradley Road remained in effect for multiple hours Wednesday morning.
Just before 11 a.m., CSFD announced that fire units had cleared the scene. Colorado Springs Utilities has arrived on the scene to work on repairs.
Utilities officials confirmed the gas line was shut off and crews are actively working to repair the line.
CSU spokesperson Alex Trefry said as of 12 noon, Bradley Road remains partially closed as crews make the necessary repairs. CSU anticipates crews will remain on the scene for the next four hours.
