One person was stabbed and two people have been arrested Tuesday morning following an altercation over an attempted vehicle theft, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police said at 12:56 a.m., officers received reports of a stabbing near 4825 Astrozon Blvd.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers discovered three people — one person with a stab wound to his hand and two separate men, one of which armed with a bat.

Upon further investigation, police revealed that four total individuals, all whom lived in the area, had interrupted ‘multiple unknown suspects’ actively trying to steal their car, according to police.

Police said a chase between the two groups ensued.

When the four people chasing the would-be car thieves, they came across a person who they mistakenly believed to be one of the suspects.

According to police, that person was stabbed in the hand by one of the suspects in question while the other person had threatened the victim with the baseball bat.

The two individuals arrested in the incident have since been identified as Richard Salceiro-Echevarria and Lazaro Lopez.
