Father and daughter killed in Wednesday crash identified

A Peyton man and his 12-year-old daughter have been identified as the victims of the July 10 head-on-collision on U.S. Highway 24.

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office confirmed the man to be Brent Pyatt, 41.

A GoFundMe page purportedly set up by the family identified the 12-year-old as Pyatt’s daughter Emma Joy Pyatt.

The crash took place about 10:20 p.m. on July 10 near Judge Orr and Stapleton roads in Falcon according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Investigators determined that a Chevrolet Silverado, driving west on U.S. 24, swerved onto the right shoulder and, while attempting to correct its course, drifted into the eastbound lane and collided with a Jeep Wrangler, said state trooper Gabriel Moltrer.

The father and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. A younger brother, 10 years old according to the GoFundMe, was also in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.

A 46-year-old man, the sole occupant of the Chevrolet, also suffered serious bodily injury.

CSP stated that alcohol and excessive speeds are believed to have been factors in the crash.

The Pyatt family GoFundMe asks for community support to help the widow and surviving 10-year-old with medical expenses.

“If you are not able to help monetarily, please just pray for our family while we try to navigate this new life,” says the fund page, which has drawn more than $50,000 donations in just its first day.
