Colorado Springs drivers have new construction delays and closures in store along major routes. Here are construction updates for the week of July 14.

Interstate 25 

The Colorado Department of Transportation says a portion of northbound I-25 will be closed between Mesa Ridge Parkway and South Academy Boulevard during nighttime hours on July 18.

The move will allow crews to implement a new lane alignment on to a newly constructed bridge over South Academy Boulevard.

Northbound I-25 full closure:

• Thursday, July 18, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. between Mile Point 132 – 135.

A detour will take drivers off I-25 at Mesa Ridge Parkway, onto the CanAm Highway and South Academy Boulevard, then back onto I-25 at Mile Point 135.

South Academy Boulevard 

On July 19, the same section of roadway will see the east- and westbound South Academy Boulevard lanes under I-25 close for the I-25 bridge reconstruction project. Crews will be removing bridge overhang structures during nighttime hours.

Eastbound South Academy Boulevard full closure:

• Friday, July 19, 9 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.

Westbound South Academy Boulevard full closure:

• Friday, July 19, 8 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.

A detour will be in place for eastbound South Academy Boulevard traffic onto I-25 to Colorado Highway 16, to then turn around and re-enter I-25 north to South Academy Boulevard.

Westbound South Academy Boulevard traffic will divert  onto I-25 north to Lake Avenue/South Circle Drive, then turn around and re-enter I-25 south to South Academy Boulevard

Bradley Road

As part of the ongoing South Academy Boulevard widening project, Bradley Road under the South Academy Boulevard bridge will see closures and delays for bridge work next week.

The road will be down to one alternating lane controlled by flaggers on:

• Monday, July 16, Thursday, July 19, and Friday, July 20, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to 

The road will also be fully closed on July 19 during nighttime hours for crews to pour a new roadway deck on the bridge.

Full Closure of Bradley Road:

• Friday, July 19, 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. 

A detour will be in place for eastbound Bradley Road traffic onto South Academy Boulevard, the CanAm Highway and then to turn around and re-enter South Academy northbound to the Bradley Road exit eastbound.

Westbound Bradley Road traffic will divert to the Hancock Expressway to then turn onto Milton Proby Parkway until the Bradley Road exit.

Airport Road 

After construction closures, Airport Road is set to reopen west of South Academy Boulevard. The road is closing east of South Academy, however, starting the night of July and set to last into September.

A detour will be in place north from South Academy and Murray Boulevard to Pikes Peak Avenue for drivers heading east and west. All businesses on Airport will remain open and accessible via South Academy.

Boychuk Avenue

Near the Lamplighter neighborhood between Hancock Expressway and Drennan Road, Boychuk Avenue will be completely closed starting July 11.  The closure is for repaving and the installation of curbs and gutters.

Full Boychuk Avenue closure:

• Thursday, July 11, Friday, July 12
• Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 19

Neighborhood traffic for Lamplighter will need to use the south entrance. Boychuk Avenue will be accessible from the north via Handcock Expressway and south via Drennan Road.
