Body matching clothes of missing man found in Arkansas River in southeast Colorado

A body was recovered in the Arkansas River by La Junta just six days after a young man went missing in that area.

The Otero County Sheriff’s Office announced the discovery on Tuesday night, noting the body was found at around 6:40 p.m. located 3.14 miles from La Junta’s head gate.

Robert Fowler, the county’s coroner, said the clothes on the body matched the clothes of Devlin Cambeul, the 19-year-old man who went missing after going swimming in the river in the early morning hours of June 12.

“At this point, we have not made a positive ID, and that will happen in a few days,” Fowler said.

Fowler said the Cambeul family has been made aware of the situation.
