Three motorcycles and one vehicle were involved in a fatal crash Tuesday night near a Colorado Springs hospital.

At approximately 7:57 p.m. Tuesday night, Colorado Springs Police Department officers responded to a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of E. Jackson Street and N. Nevada Avenue, just east of Penrose Hospital.

Upon arrival, officers found one deceased motorcyclist and another rider with serious bodily injury, who was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the involved vehicle was not injured in the crash.

The third involved motorcyclist fled the scene on foot but was later contacted by CSPD officers at a local hospital.

CPSP reported that initial information indicated the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Jackson Street crossing Nevada Avenue on a green light when at least one of the motorcycles collided with the vehicle. After the initial collision, all three of the motorcycles went down.

Speed is being investigated as a possible contributing factor in this crash.

The status of the other involved parties is unknown at this time.
