El Paso County’s Clerk and Recorder’s Office has counted 48,317 votes through Monday. But with the June 25 primary less than a week away, there are new polling stations opening in the run-up.

Voter Service and Polling Centers allow people to vote in-person, register to vote and help with mail-in or paper ballots. Six are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday:

Citizens Service Center (1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road)

Swink Hall at the El Paso County Fair and Event Center (366 10th Street, Calhan)

Downtown/Centennial Hall (200 S. Cascade Ave.)

Fort Carson EPC Branch (6351 Wetzel Ave., Bldg. 1525, Fort Carson)

North EPC Branch (8830 N. Union Blvd.)

Southeast EPC Branch (5650 Industrial Place)

On Monday, June 24, three additional locations will open:

Fountain Utilities (101 N. Main St., Fountain)

Meridian Ranch Recreation Center (10301 Angeles Rd., Peyton)

Town of Monument Public Works Building (259 Beacon Lite Road, Monument)

According to the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder, 98% of the county population is within 10-15 minutes of a voter center or one of the 39 listed ballot drop-off boxes, accessable 24/7. More information can be found on the clerk and recorder’s new election tracking site, which includes a live webcam of each ballot box location.

This year, voters will choose Democratic and Republican representatives from a slew of federal, state and county offices to face each other in the Nov. 5 general election.

Big races include the El Paso County-based 5th Congressional District. Congressional hopefuls seeking to replace longtime U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn, a Republican, include Republicans Jeff Crank and state Republican Party Chairman Dave Williams, and Democrats River Gassen and Joe Reagan.

In primary elections, unaffiliated voters receive a ballot packet containing a Republican candidate ballot and a Democratic candidate ballot. However, unaffiliated voters may only vote and return one ballot; they should destroy and discard the other ballot, El Paso County Clerk and Recorder Steve Schleiker’s office said in a news release.

Residents can register to vote, update their voter registration, receive a ballot, drop off a ballot, and vote in person at a voting center until 7 p.m. on election day, June 25.
