Ongoing CDOT construction project to close I-25 south of Colorado Springs
Drivers will see a full closure of Interstate 25 soon as part of a multi-phase improvement project.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said that crews will be implementing a lane switch on the interstate between the Santa Fe Avenue and Mesa Ridge Parkway, with accompanying closures to include the full roadway on June 20. Lane and exit closures will also affect traffic.
I-25 full closure:
- Southbound I-25: June 20, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.
- Northbound I-25: 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.
Detours will be in place for northbound traffic to exit at Santa Fe Avenue, then turn onto the CanAm Highway, Mesa Ridge Parkway, then back onto I-25.
Southbound traffic will exit at Mesa Ridge Parkway, turn onto the CanAm Highway, Santa Fe Avenue, then back onto I-25.
Other closures will be in affect before the full shutdown on June 20.
Southbound I-25
The left shoulder of southbound I-25 will be closed nightly on June 17 and 18, while the alternating left and right lane closures on southbound I-25 will also be in affect nighttime on June 17 and 18.
The southbound on and off ramps at Santa Fe Avenue exit will be closed nighttime on June 18, with detours in place.

Southbound I-25 will be temporarily shutdown two times next week, with detours in place.

South Academy Boulevard
In addition to I-25, CDOT is also expecting closures next week in the ongoing project to widen and improve South Academy Boulevard.
Eastbound South Academy Boulevard will see alternating left and right lane closures near Hartford street during the nighttime hours of June 19.
The closures will allow crews to shift traffic to newly-constructed lanes. The northbound I-25 ramp onto eastbound South Academy Boulevard will also be shorter as of June 20.
A portion of Bradley road under South Academy will be closed on June 19 during nighttime hours for bridge work. During the same time, the left lanes of South Academy will be closed over the bridge.
Eastbound Bradley road traffic will detour onto South Academy and the CanAm Highway, while westbound will detour onto the Hancock Expressway, Milton Proby Parkway, then the Bradley Road exit.
