New CEOs hired at Colorado Springs hospitals
Two new CEOs have been announced for the Penrose and St. Francis hospitals in Colorado Springs.
CommonSpirit Health, a nonprofit hospital chain formerly known as Centura, said Wednesday that Kristi Olson will lead Penrose and Gina Temple will be in charge at St. Francis, according to a news release.
Kristi Olson – CEO for Penrose Hospital
Olson has been the interim CEO for Penrose since October 2023. She has than 20 years of healthcare experience.
Before serving as interim CEO, Olson was the market chief operating officer for Penrose and St. Francis hospitals.
She earned her master’s degree in physical therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and her bachelor’s at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Gina Temple – CEO for St. Francis Hospital
Temple is a board-certified hospital administrator with more than 30 years of experience .
The news release by CommonSpirit said that Temple’s prior positions include serving as the CEO for HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital in Tampa, where she launched inpatient rehabilitation services, expanding the emergency room from 19 to 44 bays, improving physician engagement by 30.7% and increasing their Leapfrog rating, which is a grading from nonprofit organization that measures how safe hospitals are, from a ‘B’ to a ‘A.’
Before HCA, she served in several executive roles with Baptist Health System in San Antonio for three years, including the CEO for Mission Trail Baptist Hospital and the Texas Group chief operating officer as well as the chief operating officer for North Central Baptist Hospital.
Temple earned her doctorate degree in applied management and decision sciences from Walden University, her master’s in public administration from University of West Florida and a bachelor’s from the University of South Alabama.
