Colorado Springs man identified in fatal motorcycle crash on North Hancock Avenue

The motorcyclist who died in a fatal accident on June 1 has been identified as Colorado Springs local, police announced.

On Friday evening, Cody Ray, 27, was traveling south on North Hancock Avenue and Fourth Street at more than double the speed limit of 30 mph when a vehicle pulled forward through a stop sign and collided with Ray, throwing him from his motorcycle.

Responding officers from CSPD’s Falcon division pronounced him dead at the scene.

The police department said in the announcement that speed was the contributing factor in the crash, adding that the investigation is still ongoing.

Numbers from CSPD show that this is the 25th fatal traffic incident in Colorado Springs this year, and there were 20 at this same time last year.
