A death investigation is underway after a body was found Friday at America the Beautiful Park, according to Colorado Springs police.

“At 10:13 this morning, our Homeless Outreach Team responded to a call for service for a suspicious death,” according to police department spokesman Ira Cronin. “Our homicide unit responded to investigate and that investigation still underway.”

Cronin said the deceased appears to be male. 

By 11 a.m. police officers could be seen taping off a terraced area with shrubs and a bench, surrounding what appeared to be a body at the southern end of the park, just north of the West Cimarron Street overpass. Other police officers were surveying the area, asking people in the area if they had seen or heard anything suspicious.
