Current information on 2024 elections in El Paso County will now be available online in a custom-crafted portal.

The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s office launched a new Voter Information Portal this week that combines updated voter turnout information with census and tax assessor data and geospatial mapping tools. Users can find current election data as well as archived elections.

“We are the first in the country to provide this kind of technology to our voters here in El Paso County,” Clerk and Recorder Steve Schlieker said at a June 4 El Paso County Board of Commissioners meeting.

The EPC VIP website also shows ballot boxes and voting center by location. Users can access a public webcam of ballot boxes and the hours of and directions to voting centers.

“Our new portal emphasizes that transparency is key to deterring misinformation and ensuring free and fair elections,” said Schleiker.

The tool was created by Spatialest, a data visualization company that has worked with county tax assessor offices, according to its website. The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s office said in a release that the company built the tool to process data into an intuitive visual platform.

According to the release, the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder is the first such office in the U.S. to work with Spatialest on a data tool for elections. Schleiker said he had been working on the tool since he came into office.

EPC VIP is currently tracking data for the June 2024 primary, with 3,486 voters counted in the Democratic, Republican and unaffiliated voter turnout categories as of June 7. Election day is June 25.
