Closures to affect major Colorado Springs roads starting Monday
Construction closures will affect major Colorado Springs roadways starting Monday, June 10.
Tutt Boulevard
Tutt Boulevard in Colorado Springs will be closed for 6 weeks starting Monday for an expansion project.
The city of Colorado Springs said that the closure was to widen a section of the road between Vickie Lane and Springs Breeze Drive.
The project, considered A-list under Pikes Peak Regional Transportation’s categories and approved by voters in 2012, will widen the road by two lanes in each direction. Tutt Boulevard will also receive other improvements including sidewalks and pedestrian ramps.
According to the city, the project will improve traffic flow by removing two 90-degree turns to Vickie Lane and to Templeton Gap Road.
During the project, through traffic will detour through Black Forest Road and Wolf Ridge Drive. Traffic heading to the Church of All Nations and nearby residential areas will detour via Spring Breeze Drive.
Interstate 25
Both directions of I-25 between Santa Fe Avenue and Mesa Ridge Parkway will be temporarily closed starting Monday for roadway resurfacing, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Alternating closures from Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14:
– Northbound I-25 from 6 to 8 p.m.
– Southbound I-25 from 7 to 8 p.m.
Additionally, a full closure of southbound I-25 will be in affect from June 10 through June 14 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Southbound traffic will detour at the Mesa Ridge Parkway exit (132A) onto the CanAm Highway, then onto Santa Fe Avenue to re-enter I-25.

The speed limit through the area will be reduced to 60 mph, and CDOT predicts traffic delays of 10 to 15 minutes.
South Academy Boulevard
Under I-25, South Academy Boulevard will also see alternating lane closures as improvements are made to the bridge.
Eastbound South Academy will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. Westbound South Academy will be closed on June 14 from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Traffic will reroute using the South Academy Boulevard ramps.

Additionally on South Academy Boulevard, the left lanes in both directions above Bradley Road will be closed on Saturday, June 15 form 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for bridge construction. The closure is part of an ongoing South Academy Boulevard widening and improvement project.
