A longtime Red Lobster at 4925 N. Academy Blvd. in northern Colorado Springs could close under the restaurant chain’s latest bankruptcy plan, according to a CNN report Thursday.

In addition, Red Lobster might shutter locations at 3301 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins, 2885 23rd Ave. in Greeley and 3306 N. Elizabeth St. in Pueblo. A list of restaurants potentially to close accompanied the CNN report.

A second Red Lobster in Colorado Springs, at 3510 New Center Point in the east side First & Main Town Center, is not included on the list of locations targeted for closure and reported by CNN.

Red Lobster, the nationwide seafood chain, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May, reporting more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand, according to CNN and other national news outlets.

A few weeks before its bankruptcy filing, Red Lobster closed roughly 50 locations nationwide, CNN said, though other national news reports said the chain had shut nearly 100 restaurants. Those closures included four others in Colorado — in Denver, Lakewood, Lone Tree and Wheat Ridge.

The latest list of locations that Red Lobster wants to close was included in court filings last week, and all of the restaurants could shutter if they can’t renegotiate their leases, the CNN report said.
