Interstate 25 road closures planned near Colorado Springs
Travelers can expect to run into road closures on Interstate 25 south of Colorado Springs this week.
The Colorado Department of Transportation announced temporary nighttime closures of northbound and southbound I-25 between the Santa Fe Avenue (mile marker 128) and Mesa Ridge Parkway (mile marker 132) exits in a news release.
The closures are part of the Military Access, Mobility and Safety Improvement Project to improve I-25 with new asphalt surfacing in the Fountain and Fort Carson areas.
Crews will mill the sections of road northbound and southbound on I-25 from mile marker 127.75 to 128.34 on Monday night. New asphalt will be placed Tuesday night through Friday night.

Temporary full closures of the northbound lanes will take place 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday through 10 a.m. Saturday.
Detours

For northbound detours, traffic will exit at Santa Fe Avenue, turn north onto the CanAm Highway (U.S. 85/87), travel to Mesa Ridge Parkway, turn west and re-enter I-25 from there.
For southbound detours, traffic will exit at Mesa Ridge Parkway (exit 132A), travel to the CanAm Highway, turn south and continue to Santa Fe Avenue to re-enter I-25 at mile marker 128.
The speed limit will be reduced to 60 mph with fines doubled through the construction area. CDOT warns that traffic delays of 10 to 15 minutes are to be expected. Motorists are being urged to use extra caution while traveling through the area.
