Lewis-Palmer student graduates from U.S. Naval Academy
Lewis-Palmer High School graduate Eva Torres has graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy.
Torres completed four years of challenging academic, physical and professional military training at the famed institution in Annapolis, Md., graduating from with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with American Chemical Society accreditation and a commission as a U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Lt.
The announcement came via a press release from the Naval Academy.
Torres attended Pueblo Corwin International Magnet School in Pueblo before graduating from Lewis-Palmer.
At the academy, Torres was a member of the Navy Medicine Club, German Club, European Culture Club, Catholic Midshipmen Club, and Ultimate Frisbee Intramural Team, according to the release.
“Founded in 1845, the U.S. Naval Academy today is a prestigious four-year service academy that prepares midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically to be professional officers in the naval service,” the release said. “More than 4,400 men and women representing every state in the U.S. and several foreign countries make up the student body, known as the Brigade of Midshipmen.”
Only about 1,200 students are admitted to the academy each year.
