El Paso County Sheriff’s Office make arrest in year-long mail theft operation

A Colorado Springs man has been arrested and charged on dozens of charges related to mail theft.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Colorado Springs police arrested 40-year-old Adam Christopher Turner on Tuesday.

Turner is accused of multiple felonies related to the year-long mail theft operation. He was booked into the county jail on 25 counts of money laundering, 25 counts of identity theft and two counts of felony theft. He remined in custody as of Friday afternoon on a $150,000 bond.

The mail theft investigation began in Jan. 2023, according to law enforcement.

According to the sheriff’s office press release sent out Friday Turner was identified as a suspect based on information provided by a family member of a victim. Detectives were able to link Turner to thefts in El Paso County, affecting the Meridian Ranch and Woodmen Hills neighborhoods in El Paso County, as well as Parker, Colorado.

A search warrant was ordered for Turner’s residence and detectives report finding stolen mail, makeshift mailbox keys, narcotics, cash, designer jewelry, luxury timepieces and other stored boxed merchandise. Alongside these items, stolen license plates, vehicle registrations, firearms and hundreds of tools and toolboxes were also found.

It took a rental moving truck, two vans and four tow trucks to transport all of the evidence to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Facility, according to the office’s press release.

“The thorough investigation and successful arrest of Adam Turner for his prolific actions highlight the impact my detectives have on disrupting criminal enterprises. My office continues to hold criminals accountable, creating a safer community for everyone,” stated El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal in the press release.
