Colorado Springs police recover $3,238 worth of siphoned fuel during search warrant

The Colorado Springs Police Department reportedly recovered 909.8 gallons of stolen fuel during a fuel siphoning investigation.

Law enforcement identified a pattern of fuel siphoning at several gas stations across Colorado. A specially outfitted van was siphoning hundreds of gallons of fuel at a time across numerous gas stations according to officials. The fuel collected would then go on to be sold to others in the community at a discounted rate.

On May 21, Colorado Springs Police Department detectives, with the help of other agencies, including the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed search warrants at two addresses.

Officers report recovering 909.8 gallons of stolen fuel with an approximate value of $3,238, multiple vehicles related to the thefts and other various evidence.

Detectives are continuing to investigate with charges expected to follow at a later date according to the department’s blotter announcement of the searches.
