The best ProRodeo cowboys and cowgirls from the U.S. and Canadian Circuits, plus National Champs from Mexico are coming to the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado July 9-13, 2024. With over $1 million in payouts, they will be riding to win. This is where champions and careers are made. The speed, the excitement … there is no better place to be than the NFR Open at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, powered by RAM!

Rodeo proceeds help support service members and their families in the Pikes Peak region. The U.S. Air Force Academy, NORAD/Northcom, U.S. SPACECOM, Schriever Space Force Base, Peterson Space Force Base and Fort Carson all call Colorado Springs home. Each day of the event is dedicated to local military families:

Tuesday, July 9 (evening) — U.S. Army SMDC & MDA Night, sponsored by Zivaro.

Wednesday, July 10 (evening) — Fort Carson/4th Infantry Division Night, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual.

Thursday, July 11 (evening) — First Responders & 302nd Airlift Wing Night, sponsored by UCHealth.

Friday, July 12 (matinee) — Guard/Reserve Units & Educators, sponsored by KeyBank.

Friday July 12 (evening) — Space Night, sponsored by The Boeing Company.

Saturday, July 13 (matinee) — United States Air Force Academy, sponsored by USAA.

Saturday, July 13 (evening) — NORAD/NORTHCOM Night, sponsored by Lockheed Martin.

“We’re inviting fans from all over the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and beyond to come join us to see the best in the sport of professional rodeo compete in this beautiful setting we call home,” said Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo President Chris Whitney. “Western tradition and the sport of rodeo are a big part of who we are in the Pikes Peak region. Come join us. We welcome you.” 

 

See it, believe it! 

Evening performances take place Tuesday through Saturday at 7 p.m., with matinee performances at Noon Friday and Saturday! Sell-outs are expected. Grounds open at 10:00 a.m. for the matinee performances and 4:00 p.m. for the evening performances. You will see the toughest and most talented cowboys and cowgirls in rodeo compete in Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing and Bull Riding, culminating with a semifinals and finals on Saturday, July 13, when the national circuit champions will be crowned.

Attendees can also see Girl of the West Makena Norton and Aide to Girl of the West Aneka Normandie. These young women, ambassadors for the western way of life and the western-type American girl, both have ties to the military; Norton’s grandfather served in the United States Air Force, and Normadie’s mother and father are active duty in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, respectively.

Come early, stay late

Arrive early to avoid the heaviest traffic; there will be plenty to do before the Rodeo with a wide range of vendors offering food, drinks, apparel, and other Western fare. Plus, the PPOBR Fan Zone has fun activities from games to rides, mutton bustin’ preliminaries and live music, and a Beer and Wine Corral is available for the adults! After the Rodeo, even more live music and dancing awaits in the Coors Roadhouse Saloon (no cover charge!). Stick around!

Park it!

Rodeo visitors can take advantage of Premier parking for $10 each spot with the purchase of tickets. General parking areas are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is convenient, FREE offsite parking with shuttle service that will take you to the rodeo and back to the lot when you are ready to call it a night.
