Furry paws and wagging tails will grace Tejon Street ahead of the grand opening of Colorado Springs’ newest dog park this week.

Canines and their human companions are invited to partake in a dog parade scheduled for May 16 in downtown, according to an announcement from the Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs.

The Downtown Dog Parade will begin at 4:10 p.m. on the south side of the Plaza of the Rockies building at 111 S. Tejon St. and will end at the new Antlers Dog Park at 31 W. Pikes Peak Ave.

All dogs in attendance of the parade will receive a complimentary souvenir bandana, the announcement said.

The grand opening of the Antlers Dog Park will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a ribbon cutting, giveaways and more, according to the Downtown Partnership’s website.
