Stolen vehicle rams into Colorado Springs thrift store: Police

Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly rammed a stolen vehicle into a north Colorado Springs thrift store several times in a burglary attempt early Thursday.

The incident took place just after 1 a.m. at Plato’s Closet on Briargate Boulevard, near the Chapel Hills Mall, police said. Witnesses told police that a vehicle purposely rammed into the front of the building four times in an apparent attempt to get inside before driving off. A store employee confirmed that the owner was present during the burglary attempt.

The vehicle was later found to be stolen. No suspect information was given, and no arrests have been announced in the incident.

The store’s owner told The Gazette that she was “shaken up, but OK,” declining further comment on the attempted break-in.

Following a repair job by Property Craft Emergency Services, the thrift store began admitting customers at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
