Colorado Springs weather: Frost advisory in effect early Wednesday, sunny later in the day

Colorado Springs residents who woke up to near-freezing temperatures on Wednesday can look forward to sunny skies and warmer conditions later in the day, according to Gazette News partner KOAA.

“A freeze warning and a frost advisory will remain in effect until 8 a.m. for El Paso County, with these freeze alerts also in effect for the Denver metro area and parts of northern Colorado,” Meteorologist Alan Rose said.

After two days of strong winds, Wednesday is expected to be milder, with wind speeds of 10-16 mph and a high approaching 61 degrees.

“This afternoon we’ll see a mostly sunny to partly cloudy day, with highs down around 3-6 degrees from Tuesday,” Rose said. “A cold front tonight will increase clouds region-wide, but no precipitation is expected here locally.”

Here is the extended forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday: A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61. North wind 8 to 11 mph becoming south in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.
