With the approval of a liquor license, the Colorado Pinball Pub is poised to open a location in Monument.

The Monument Town Council had a public hearing during its regular meeting April 15 at town hall in Monument regarding a new lodging and entertainment liquor license for the Colorado Pinball Pub in Monument. The Colorado Pinball Pub is a second location for owners Daniel and Holly Nikolich, which is located at 303 Hwy 105, Suite B, in Monument.

“We’ve all known it was coming, and we are very excited,” Mayor Mitch LaKind said.

The Littleton location of Colorado Pinball Pub has been open several years and features pinball and additional arcade games, food, beers, cocktails and soft drinks. The hours of operation will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.-midnight on weekends, Daniel Nikolich said. On the weekends, the establishment will be 21-over after 11 p.m., he said.

“We are family friendly. It’s a unique kind of situation during the day,” Nikolich said. “We get lots of families. People bring their kids in to play games with them. They’ll have a drink, maybe a pizza together, just like you would going to a Chili’s or a Dave & Busters.”

Council member Kenneth Kimple mentioned Pyramids was his favorite pinball machine and asked if the machines featured in the Monument location would be vintage machines or from more modern eras and styles. Nikolich said the pub would have a “little bit of everything.”

The owners’ background in pinball involved creating and organizing a pinball festival annually for almost 20 years. Nikolich describes the event as a Comic-Con for pinball and arcade gaming.

The festival led to their venture to open the first Colorado Pinball Pub location.

“That’s what we do,” Nikolich said. “We wanted to build a permanent home to kind of bring that same atmosphere and vibe. So that’s why we started the Colorado Pinball Pub.”

The owner said the Monument establishment, like its Littleton location, will rotate games frequently to feature new machines on a regular basis. Nikolich said it is their plan to open the new pub by Memorial Day this year.

Part of the gaming area will feature machines run by tokens while other areas will have games operated by an hourly freeplay cost, similar to renting a bay at TopGolf, Nikolich said.

In lieu of featured drinks, Colorado Pinball Pub specializes in whiskey. Nikolich said the Littleton location features over 200 varieties and expects the Monument location would be the same.

“There’s a little bit of food, a little bit of craft beer, a little bit of variety for everybody as well as soda,” Nikolich said.

The owner specifically mentioned the pub features Freddy’s Root Beer of which he strongly urged patrons to try.
