Colorado Springs police arrest carjacking suspects after brief pursuit
Just after midnight on Monday, Colorado Springs police arrested a man and woman after seeing them in a vehicle that had been carjacked on Saturday, according to law enforcement officials.
Brian Lecomte, 31, and Emilie Deering, 27, face a number of charges including theft, menacing, robbery and eluding. Both had outstanding warrants as well, police said.
At about 12 a.m. Monday, CSPD officers spotted a vehicle that had been taken in an armed carjacking two days before. When they tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off, officials said.
After a brief chase, the vehicle crashed in the 3100 block of East Bijou Street and both occupants tried to escape on foot, but Lecomte and Deering didn’t get far before officers caught and arrested them, according to police.
