UPDATE: Suspect vehicle ID’d in fatal hit-and-run crash near Colorado Springs mall
Colorado Springs police have released a photo of the vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run that killed a person riding a scooter near The Citadel mall early Friday morning.
The crash happened at about 1:20 a.m., near the intersection of Platte Avenue and Academy Boulevard, police said in an online blotter entry.
When officers responded to emergency calls about the collision, they found an injured person who had been riding a scooter. Investigators determined that the rider had been traveling east on Platte when they were hit by a vehicle, which fled the scene.
Responding medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Police released a photo of a red Jeep SUV Friday evening, believed to have been involved in the fatal collision.
