Colorado Springs weather: Mostly sunny and breezy, with slight chance of showers

A cool front should not have much of an effect on seasonably warm conditions in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, according to Gazette news partner KOAA.

“A few light snow showers will be possible today in the mountains, with a quick shower or two maybe in the works for the Pikes Peak Region,” KOAA Meteorologist Alan Rose said. “Wind behind the front will be moderately gusty, with northerly wind gusts today around 25 mph.”

Temperatures are expected to approach 60 degrees in Colorado Springs, Rose said.

Thursday will be dry and seasonable, with a high of 63 degrees in Colorado Springs.

“High pressure will move overhead on Friday, leading to a big jump in temperatures. Our high on Friday will top out in the middle 70s. Southwesterly breezes Friday will be around 10-20 mph, with gusts to 25 mph,” Rose said.

Breezy to gusty winds will continue into the upcoming weekend, and along with wind and warmth, critical fire threats will be possible.

“An area of low pressure that will move into the state early next week will bring more wind to our forecast, as well as a chance for showers,” Rose said.

Here is the extended forecast from the National Weather Service:

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 60. North northwest wind around 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 74. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 75. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 75. North wind around 10 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
