North Cheyenne Cañon Park closed for maintenance

Due to necessary road repairs, North Cheyenne Cañon Park  closed to the public Monday, according to a news release. The closure applies to all vehicles and trail users.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate the public’s understanding as we work to improve the safety and user experience in North Cheyenne Cañon Park,” said David Deitemeyer, Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) senior program administrator.

The repair project, which will take place in the field connecting Gold Camp Road to North Cheyenne Canyon Road, could cause rocks and debris to fall onto the road directly below. In the interest of public safety, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services staff decided to close the park, the release stated.

Gold Camp Road will remain closed to public vehicles — but open to hikers and bikers — for continued road maintenance. The road is expected to reopen sometime in mid-April.

All vehicles must access North Cheyenne Cañon Park and the North Cheyenne Cañon Trailhead via North Cheyenne Canyon Road.
