Hi again, my name is Bessie … like a cow, get it? I’m a 9 year old short haired, spayed female. I’ve got great black and white markings! I’ve been at Safe Place a long time through no fault of my own and am hoping to find just the right home.

I arrived at Safe Place back in 2022 when my then owner moved to hospice care. I was very sad and since I wasn’t doing well in the shelter environment, the folks at Safe Place sent me to a foster who helped me adjust. I was adopted but it turned out not to be a good fit and I ended up at the Humane Society instead of returned to Safe Place as is customary. I was really scared there but luckily because of my microchip, HSPPR contacted Safe Place and they rescued me again. I went back to a foster who has really helped me overcome another change. 0ver the past few months with my foster Dad I’ve really been coming out of my shell and being brave- I love following him around the house!

I would love a new home where I can be comfortable, with lots of nice hiding spots when I get overwhelmed. It might take time to overcome my shyness, since I’ve been through a lot but I’m a sweetheart when I get used to people. I’m particularly fond of sitting in my foster Dad’s lap to wait for ear scratches! Please call my friends at Safe Place to set up a meeting with me!
