Expect traffic disruptions during emergency response exercise on Fort Carson next week

Fort Carson is holding an emergency response exercise Wednesday morning in front of Evans Army Community Hospital, and near the south Navajo Housing area and Gate 5.

Law enforcement, fire and emergency services will participate in the event that’s expected to last several hours after an 8 a.m. start.

Drivers can expect traffic delays from the event, and Fort Carson urges travelers to use caution near the activities.

During the event first responders will work with nearly every U.S. Army Garrison-Fort Carson staff element and external groups such as the Fountain Fire Department. During the exercise, an emergency operations center will be set up.

Evans Army Community Hospital will also participate by caring for those with simulated injuries. The hospital will be open and operational during the event.
