Water leak shuts off water to over 4,000 inmates at Cañon City Correctional Complex
The Colorado Department of Corrections is reporting a water leak at a complex of correctional facilities in Fremont County housing 4,700 inmates with 622 staff members.
The CDOC said the leak has shut off water within the East Cañon Complex. The complex comprises six correctional facilities — Four Mile Correctional Facility, Colorado State Penitentiary, Centennial Correctional Facility, Arrowhead Correctional Center, Skyline Correctional Facility and the Fremont Correctional Facility.

The department along with the Colorado State Emergency Operations Center and other government agencies and nonprofits are working to provide potable water and water for sanitation, according to a CDOC release.
Visitation at the complex is canceled indefinitely. The CDOC said the issue is expected to be resolved in 3 to 4 days. Officials have not yet said how the leak occurred or what repairs are being made.
