The portion of South Academy Boulevard that runs underneath Interstate 25 will be closed overnight starting on April 1. 

The Colorado Department of Transportation is closing the roadway as part of the MAMSIP bridge reconstruction project, working on the bridge that carries I-25 over South Academy Boulevard.

The north and southbound I-25 on and offramps will also be detoured as a result of the Academy closures.

Full closure of eastbound South Academy Boulevard

• Monday, April 1, through Friday, April 5, 7 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. 

Full closure of westbound South Academy Boulevard

• Monday, April 1, through Thursday, April 4, 6 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

Re-route traffic on I-25 using South Academy Boulevard off- and on-ramps

Detours will be in place:

Eastbound South Academy Boulevard traffic will be diverted south on I-25 to Colorado Highway 16 (exit 132A), where drivers will turn around and re-enter I-25 north to South Academy Boulevard

Westbound South Academy Boulevard drivers will be diverted north on I-25 to Lake Avenue/South Circle Drive (exit 138), where they will turn around and re-enter I-25 south to South Academy Boulevard

North- and southbound I-25 traffic will take exit 135 off-ramps and re-enter the on-ramps to continue.

CDOT cautions that the speed limit on I-25 in the Academy exit area has been dropped to 60 mph. Traffic delays of 10-15 minutes are expected and motorists are urged to use extra caution while traveling in the area. Fines will be doubled through the construction zone.
