New amphitheater in Colorado Springs adds pop rock band to lineup

Barenaked Ladies will bring its pop rock bops to Sunset Amphitheater this summer.
The popular ’90s band will perform Sept. 21 with alternative rock band Toad the Wet Sprocket opening the show.

The group’s 1992 debut album, “Gordon,” contained a number of hits: “Enid,” “Be My Yoko Ono,” “If I Had $1000000” and “Brian Wilson,” named after The Beach Boys member. Their 1998 album, “Stunt,” was its biggest success thanks, in part, to the single “One Week.”

Their 14th album, “In Flight,” dropped in September.
The 8,000-seat, open-air amphitheater will open Aug. 9 on the city’s north side, southeast of Interstate 25 and North Gate Boulevard in the Polaris Pointe development. Pop rock band OneRepublic will play three consecutive nights. The Aug. 9-10 shows are sold out.
Popular comedian joins lineup at Sunset Amphitheater
Last week it was announced classic rock bands Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top will perform Sept. 28. Also rounding out the venue’s playbill are contemporary Christian artist Lauren Daigle on Aug. 23, comedian Jim Gaffigan on Sept. 13, country singer Dierks Bentley on Aug. 30 and Americana duo Alison Krauss and Robert Plant on Aug. 31.
Shows will continue to be announced weekly. The venue is expected to host at least 20 events this summer.
