Victims in 2 Colorado Springs crashes identified

The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the victims in two vehicle crashes, according to news releases Monday from the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Joseph Heath, 23, died after a collision with an SUV on March 1 at the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Meadow Lane, near the University of Colorado Colorado Springs entrance, police said in their news release. Emergency personnel arrived and found Heath dead at the scene.

Anthony J. Gordon, 58, died following a rollover crash and vehicle fire on March 2 near North Academy Boulevard and Vickers Drive, police said. Investigators determined that Gordon’s vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control, hit a curb and rolled over before catching fire. He was found dead at the scene.

Heath and Gordon, respectively, are the 12th and 13th traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs in 2024, police said. At this time last year, there were 11 traffic deaths.
