Postal worker robbed in Colorado Springs neighborhood

Police Lights

Colorado Springs police said a postal worker was robbed Saturday morning while delivering mail to a community mailbox.

Shortly before 11 a.m, officers responded to reports of a robbery at the 900 block of Teal Court, near the Martin Luther King Jr Bypass and Mallard Drive.

Police said miscellaneous keys were taken from the victim by an unknown man.

The robbery comes just days after the U.S. Postal Inspection Service offered a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest of suspects who robbed two U.S. Postal Service letter carriers at gunpoint in northeast Denver on Monday.

“We’ve gotten to the point where we are now targets on a daily basis,” Richard Byrne, President of the Colorado State Association of Letter Carriers, told the Denver Gazette.

Byrne said that crimes against mail carriers in Colorado has increased 300% from zero to at least 14 in the last three years.
