Northbound I-25 closed near Castle Rock
Huge traffic delays piled up Thursday morning as an injury crash with hazmat incident closed northbound Interstate 25 north of Castle Rock.
The Colorado Department of Transportation first reported the closure between Exit 184 (Castle Rock Parkway) and Exit 187 (Happy Canyon Road) just after 6 a.m. Thursday via a social media post on X.
As of 8 a.m., three left lanes are closed between Exit 184 and Exit 187, leaving one for passage.
Alternate routes were suggested to avoid the area, including going east to U.S. 83 (Parker Road).
At least four people were injured and taken to an area hospital — two with serious injuries, according to the South Metro Fire Rescue via X. Hazmat teams were working to cleanup the spilled diesel fuel.
The Colorado State Patrol is also assisting.
