Remains of missing El Paso County woman found after over a year
The remains of a woman missing from the area of Rush since 2022 has been found, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said on Wednesday. The circumstances of her death have not been released.
Beth Aper, 55, went missing on August 12, 2022, after reportedly leaving a vehicle her husband was driving near Judge Orr Road and North Calhan Highway. The sheriff’s office said she was carrying two trash bags with clothes and a cellphone.
After a year and a half later remains were found on the side of Highway 115 in Fremont County. The remains were confirmed to be Aper on March 4.
Describing Aper as a “family-oriented” person who never missed family events, the sheriff’s office said that her initial disappearance was “highly concerning.”
“El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are aggressively following leads to understand and determine the facts in Ms. Aper’s final moments, and how she could be left callously on the side of a road”, said Sheriff Joseph Roybal.
