Mikaela Shiffrin, Jamal Murray nominated for 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards
Two Colorado athletes were nominated for 2024 Laureus World Sports Awards, Laureus Sports announced Monday on social platform X.
Vail’s own US Ski Team and ski racing queen Mikaela Shiffrin, and Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray are Colorado’s nominees for 2024.

Shiffrin is nominated for the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award, the seventh time she has been nominated. The previous six times were in 2015, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023.

“There is nothing like the Laureus Awards when it comes to bringing athletes together to celebrate not just what we’ve all achieved, but the impact sport has globally. Laureus gives us a unique platform to interact with each other and make a difference,” Shiffrin said of the honor.
Shiffrin also won an ESPY in 2023 for “Best Athlete: Women’s Sports.”

Murray is nominated for the Laureus Comeback of the Year Award, his first nomination.

Murray was nominated after he returned to the court from an 18-month rehabilitation of a torn ACL sustained in April 2021. With help from Murray’s play, Denver won its first NBA championship. He excelled in the NBA Finals, becoming the fourth player in history to average over 20 points and 10 assists in the series.
Murray also won an ESPY in 2023 for “Best Comeback Athlete.”
The 25th Laureus World Sports Awards will take place in Madrid, Spain, at the Palacio de Cibeles on April 22.
