PRINT Colorado Springs man investigated in planned Ohio school shooting (copy)

Colorado Springs police confirmed this week that a city resident had been contacted by police and the FBI, who suspect he helped plan a school shooting with a 14-year-old in the Cincinnati area.

The 14-year-old Mariemont, Ohio, student is charged with conspiracy to commit murder for an alleged plot to attack a school. As first reported by Cincinnati TV station WKRC, prosecutors allege the teen had specific victims listed that he wanted to kill or rape, and apparently admitted to police that he wanted to do it and still wants to do it.

The prosecutor referred to text messages obtained by the court between him and an unidentified adult male in his 20s with a 719 area code.

WKRC reports that a tip from another student’s parent at the school led to the 14-year-old suspect’s arrest on Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Colorado Springs Police Department confirmed that officers assisted the FBI in contacting the Colorado Springs man Wednesday evening.

“No arrest has been made, and our investigation is continuing, as is our efforts to assist the FBI in forwarding their investigation,” spokesman Ira Cronin said.

A portion of the text message thread from mid-January, posted by prosecutors and reported by WKRC reads:

“Teen: Act fast, I need them dead real soon.

Adult: I got you, bro.

Teen: Can you do it tomorrow?

Adult: I don’t know.”
