5 family-friendly hot spring destinations found around Colorado

If you’re looking for something relaxing to do that will also keep the children entertained, taking a trip to one of Colorado’s many family-friendly hot springs might be the perfect activity. Many hot springs now include fun features like waterslides, large swimming pools and other features that the kids will love.

Here are five kid-friendly hot springs found in the Centennial State:

1. Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, Glenwood Springs

This resort features the Shoshone Chutes, which is a whitewater river open-air tube ride. The Sopris Splash Zone is a children’s play area that consists of three mini-water slides, waterfalls, interactive water features, shallow play areas and shade structures.

This hot springs also features a massive pool set among serene mountains, filled with naturally heated water that contains 15 minerals. Everyone in the family can find something to keep them entertained here.

2. Old Town Hot Springs, Steamboat Springs

Not only is this spot a historic hot springs, it includes an entire family-friendly recreation facility. The center consists of eight hot spring-fed pools, two 230-foot-long waterslides, and on-site child care.

3. Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort, Nathrop

Located in Nathrop, between Buena Vista and Salida, this resort is a great location for family vacations. The resort includes the historic bath house, Creekside Hot Springs, its upper pools and an infinity pool. Most notably, kids will love the 400-foot waterslide that sits at an elevation of 8,500 feet, tucked into a mountain setting and surrounded by Colorado fourteeners. The waterslide is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

4. Ouray Hot Springs, Ouray

Ouray Hot Springs consists of pools that range in temperature from 74 to 106 degrees. The resort also includes kid-friendly features like waterslides, an activity pool, and a shallow pool. These waterslides are also only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

5. The Springs Resort & Spa, Pagosa Springs

Found along the banks of the San Juan River, The Springs Resort and Spa hot spring destination includes pools filled with mineral-rich geothermal water. To accommodate younger visitors, the resort includes the three-foot-deep Blue Lagoon mineral swimming pool, in which children are free to splash around, play with water toys, and have plenty of fun in the water.
